Tesla released app version 4.58.5 last week, adding a real-time indicator that shows when Full Self-Driving is active. The update displays a blue "Self-Driving" label and glowing navigation path on the vehicle card. It applies to both HW3 and HW4 vehicles once paired with vehicle software 2026.20.6.1.
The feature gives owners remote visibility into whether their vehicle is operating under autonomous control. It was first observed by X user Jordan Camina on a Hardware 3 Model S. Tesla confirmed the indicator will reach the full fleet as the software update continues to roll out.
Vehicle software version 2026.20.6.1 has already reached nearly 40 percent of the fleet, according to monitoring by NotaTeslaApp. The change aligns with Tesla's robotaxi plans, including unsupervised rides launched in Miami this summer.
The same app version also includes an early hint that Tesla may use the cabin camera to verify driver identity before FSD activation. This combination of features supports remote monitoring for vehicles operating in autonomous mode.
