Thomas More University's men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Wittenberg Steemer Showcase on January 31 in Springfield, Ohio. The men's team finished 21st, while the women's team placed eighth. Several athletes set personal records and school records in various events.
The Wittenberg Steemer Showcase, hosted by Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, on January 31, featured strong performances from Thomas More University's track and field athletes. The men's team secured 21st place overall, highlighted by individual and relay achievements.
In the men's events, first-year Judah Blair placed 40th in the 5k with a personal record of 15:57.32. Grayson Dye and Carter Engle followed in 47th and 53rd in the 5k, both with personal records of 16:17.13 and 16:26.79, respectively. The 4x200m relay team set a school record and finished seventh with a time of 1:31.20. Sophomore Noah Miller took 29th in the mile at a personal record of 4:29.37. Andrew Witherington placed 34th in the 400m dash with 52.17, 32nd in the 200m dash with 23.13, and also ran 52.12 in another 400m entry. Junior Marcus Johnson earned seventh in the 60m dash at 7.00. Keegan Mehr finished 37th in the 400m with 52.47, and Griffin Hill was 63rd in the 800m at 2:05.10. The 4x400m relay placed 11th in 3:29.80. In field events, Carson Oldham threw 15.72m for seventh in weight throw and 13.98m for 13th in shot put, while Jase Harmon jumped 6.24m for 14th in long jump.
The women's team performed better, placing eighth. Senior Savannah Faught was 10th in the 5k at 18:32.31 and 26th in the 3000m at 11:07.16. First-year Alyssa Brunk placed 23rd in the 5k with a personal record of 19:37.51 and 28th in the 300m with 11:28.14. The 4x200m relay set a school record at 1:49.25. Dyllan Hasler finished 37th in the mile at 5:36.89. Sophia Maki took sixth in the 60m dash with 8.03. Campbell Gerling was 15th in the 800m at 2:23.67, and Brooke Grauel placed 31st in the 400m with a personal record of 1:04.42. The 4x400m relay ended 11th in 4:24.12. Kate Resing achieved 14th in long jump at 4.81m and first in triple jump with a personal record of 33 feet 9.5 inches.
These results showcase the teams' progress early in the season, with multiple personal bests and records set.
