German Linux hardware vendor TUXEDO Computers has launched the fourth-generation Gemini 17 laptop, targeting users seeking desktop-replacement performance for work and gaming. The device features an Intel Core i9-14900HX processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti graphics. Pre-orders start at €1,805, with shipping from late December 2025.
On December 5, 2025, TUXEDO Computers announced the Gemini 17 Gen4, a 17.3-inch Linux-powered notebook designed as a high-performance desktop replacement. It combines powerful components for demanding tasks like 3D rendering, video editing, and gaming.
At its core is the Intel Core i9-14900HX processor, a 24-core chip with eight performance cores and sixteen efficiency cores, supporting 32 threads and reaching up to 5.8 GHz on single-core loads. TUXEDO configures it to draw up to 115W, while efficiency cores manage lighter workloads to keep noise low. Graphics are handled by the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti with 12 GB GDDR7 VRAM, operating at up to 140W for intensive applications.
Memory options go up to 96 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM, and storage reaches 8 TB via two M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD slots. The matte display offers 2560×1440 resolution at 240 Hz, covering 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut—wider than sRGB—for professional media work. It provides 300 nits brightness and 1000:1 contrast.
Connectivity includes Intel Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, a 1 GBit Ethernet port, two USB-C 3.2 Gen2 ports with DisplayPort 2.1 and 100W charging, two USB-A ports (one Gen1, one Gen2), HDMI 2.1, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. This setup supports up to four displays total. The laptop measures under 2.9 cm thick, weighs 2.8 kg, and includes a 73 Wh battery, TPM 2.0, a backlit keyboard with numpad, and a precision clickpad.
It ships with TUXEDO OS (Ubuntu-based with KDE Plasma), Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (optional encryption), or Windows 11, plus preinstalled Linux drivers and management tools. The base model with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD starts at €1,805 excluding VAT and duties.
