Two clubs denied elite license and relegated

Svenska Ishockeyförbundet has denied elite licenses to Falu IF and Forshaga IF for the 2026/27 season.

The decisions mean both clubs in Hockeyettan will be moved down to division 2. Falu IF failed to meet economic requirements after its annual report was found inconsistent with proper accounting standards.

The club had already received one capital requirement dispensation in the past five years, leaving no option for another under the rules. Forshaga IF was denied a license because it did not submit required documents despite repeated reminders.

All sportingly qualified clubs in SHL, Hockeyallsvenskan and SDHL received licenses. Three clubs in Hockeyallsvenskan and one in SDHL were granted dispensations for capital or arena issues.

The clubs have two weeks to appeal the rulings to the federation's appeals board.
