Two students found dead after going missing during rafting

A joint SAR team's search in Sungai Cimanuk, Indramayu Regency, has located the bodies of two students missing during a rafting trip. Both victims were found dead after their inflatable boat was caught in strong currents. The SAR operation has now been concluded.

On Saturday (8/11/2025), a group of seven students from Politeknik Negeri Indramayu (Polindra) went rafting on Sungai Cimanuk. They departed from Desa Legok, Lelea Subdistrict, Indramayu Regency, around 10:00 WIB. While passing Bendung Karet Bangkir around 12:30 WIB, their inflatable boat was caught in strong currents, causing five students to fall into the river.

Of the five who fell, three were rescued, while two went missing. The two students who remained on the boat also survived. The survivors are Gelar Gupta (22), Anggita Sekar (19), Lutfatul Hasan (19), M Ali (21), and Fatir (20).

A joint SAR team was immediately deployed for the search. The body of the first victim, Agung Septiadi (20), was found on Sunday (9/11/2025) at 21:50 WIB, one kilometer from the incident site. The body of the second victim, Muhammad Lana Wiratno (21), was found on Monday (10/11/2025) around 01:05 WIB, about five kilometers from the location.

Commander of the Rescue Team at Cirebon SAR Post, Edy Sukamto, stated, “After being found, both victims were immediately evacuated to RSUD Indramayu.” With the recovery of both bodies, the SAR operation was declared complete and closed, with all teams returning to their respective units.
