The union UFO has called Lufthansa and Cityline cabin crew to a two-day strike on Wednesday and Thursday. All departures of the main Lufthansa brand from Frankfurt and Munich will be affected. The walkout starts at 00:01 on Wednesday and ends just before midnight on Thursday.
The Independent Flight Attendants Organisation (UFO) called on Monday for Lufthansa and Cityline cabin crews to strike. The labour dispute concerns better working conditions. Passengers should prepare for disruptions.
The strike will affect all flights of the core Lufthansa brand from Frankfurt and Munich airports. UFO representatives criticise the company's stance. "We are dealing with an employer side that has entrenched itself in a hardliner position, while constantly proclaiming to be ready for negotiations at any time," said labour expert Harry Jaeger.
Cabin crew last struck last week. On Friday, 580 of 1053 scheduled take-offs and landings were cancelled at Frankfurt airport. Munich, Hamburg, Bremen, Stuttgart, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Berlin and Hanover were also impacted.
