Indonesian speed climber Veddriq Leonardo expressed confidence in securing gold at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. National team preparations center on technical, physical, and mental readiness ahead of the event scheduled from 19 September to 4 October.
Veddriq Leonardo said mental training has become the main priority now that technical and physical preparations are progressing smoothly. He stressed the need to maintain mental stability because human conditions can fluctuate.
The Paris 2024 Olympic gold medalist is training at the national camp in Bekasi, West Java, with the coaching team. The preparation program includes refining movement techniques, start responses, match simulations, as well as rest management and nutrition.
Veddriq plans an early departure to Japan for adaptation to the venue. He is joined by three other speed athletes: Aditya Tri Syahria, Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi, and Berthdigna Devi. Intense global competition in the speed discipline makes team experience and maturity key assets.
