The YSU Mid-Major Invitational, presented by Southwoods Health, took place at the WATTS Center in Youngstown, Ohio, over January 30-31, 2026. Youngstown State's Penguins dominated several events, with Joseph Owusu-Ansah winning the 200m in 21.44 seconds and placing second in the 60m dash at 6.81 seconds. Micah Mitchell claimed victory in the men's 60m hurdles with 8.10 seconds, edging teammate Clancy Chrystal, who finished second at 8.21 seconds. On the women's side, Lea Parham won the 60m hurdles in 8.63 seconds, followed by Ava Littler in second at 8.87 seconds, while Ava Reeves took the 60m dash in a photo-finish 7.61 seconds.
The Penguins also notched seconds in the mile (Caleigh Richards, 5:01.15), weight throw (JaMeire Robinson, 17.04m), pole vault (Ainsley Hamsher, 3.97m), 400m (Tori Atkins, 57.42s), triple jump (Aaron Berardinelli, 14.06m), 200m (Melody Harloff, 24.79s), women's distance medley relay (12:19.95), and men's 4x400m relay (3:16.69). Additional top finishes included Patrick Burgos third in the men's mile (4:12.49), Brooklynn McIntyre third in women's weight throw (14.70m), and Dominic Brown third in men's shot put (16.73m).
Slippery Rock University's men's team earned five top-10 finishes, led by Logan Anderson's NCAA provisional score in the heptathlon. Wheeling University's women set four personal bests: Fenne Stewart in shot put (9.86m, 29th), Autumn King in high jump (1.58m, 7th seeded), Autumn Kerchner in high jump (1.45m, 7th unseeded), Madison Conrad in 400m (1:04.14, 44th), Jade Trowell in 800m (2:26.11, 24th), and Lucinda Banks in 3000m (12:11.39, 53rd).
The meet showcased competitive depth, with YSU taking four of the top seven in women's pole vault and three of the top seven in men's 60m dash.
