Jonathan Klinsmann, the son of Jürgen Klinsmann and goalkeeper for Serie B club AS Cesena, suffered a fractured vertebra in a match against Palermo. The injury, sustained after colliding with opponent Filippo Ranocchia, will sideline him for an extended period. As a member of the US national team, he was in contention for this summer's World Cup on home soil but will now miss the tournament.
