Alexander Klaws celebrates acclaimed Tarzan comeback in Hamburg

The Disney musical 'Tarzan' has returned to Hamburg after 17 years. The premiere at Stage-Theater Neue Flora was met with minutes-long applause, especially for Alexander Klaws in the title role. Klaws is returning to the role from previous engagements, which holds personal significance for him.

The musical 'Tarzan' with music by Phil Collins premiered on November 21, 2025, at Stage-Theater Neue Flora in Hamburg. It tells the story of an orphan boy who grows up in the jungle among apes and encounters humans, including Jane, whom he falls in love with. This love forces him into a difficult decision between the jungle and civilization. The most famous song is 'You'll be in my heart'. The production was first staged in Hamburg in 2008.

The lead role of Tarzan is primarily played by Philipp Büttner, known from 'Hercules'. As a guest star, Alexander Klaws (42) appears in some performances until April 2026. For Klaws, this is an emotional comeback: He previously played Tarzan from 2010 to 2013 in Hamburg, in 2016 in Oberhausen, and in 2025 in Stuttgart. It was here in 2010 that he met his wife Nadja Scheiwiller, who played Jane opposite him. Klaws recently said: 'Tarzan' is the beginning of the Klaws family story. '15 years later, I return as 'Tarzan'. My wife and I - we have three wonderful healthy sons and 'Tarzan' was the start of it all. It will always be more than just a show.'

On opening night, the ensemble received minutes of applause, particularly for Klaws and Abla Alaoui as Jane. Numerous celebrities, including singer Michael Schulte, host Tobias Schlegl, and Evelyn Burdecki, attended the performance and posed on the red carpet. The musical runs until the end of August 2026.
