Analyst recommends price hike for Grand Theft Auto VI

An analyst has suggested that Take-Two Interactive consider raising the price of Grand Theft Auto VI due to its immense hype. While standard editions may reach $80, deluxe versions could exceed $100. The game is scheduled for release in November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Grand Theft Auto VI, one of the most anticipated video games, is set for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a PC version to follow later. The title has faced multiple delays, but its launch remains a major event in the gaming industry.

Analysts have weighed in on potential pricing strategies. Serkan Toto and Piers Harding-Rolls predict the standard edition will cost between $70 and $80, while deluxe editions could hit $100 or more. Video Game Insights analyst Vic Bassey emphasized the game's hype as a factor, stating, "Based on the level of hype surrounding the game, it would be prudent for Take-Two to pursue a price increase--although reaching $100 might just be a threshold too far."

Bassey noted that GTA VI could be the game to cross the $100 threshold for its standard edition, though he doubts it will. Another analyst, Rhys Elliott, advised caution on pricing. He suggested keeping the base price relatively low to facilitate player migration from Grand Theft Auto V to VI and boost the online mode's user base, describing the online component as a "long-term cash cow."

"Limiting the total addressable audience at launch with an aggressively high base price would hinder the crucial GTA 5 to GTA 6 player migration and slow the growth of the GTA Online user base," Elliott said.

These predictions come amid broader excitement for 2026, which includes other major releases across platforms like Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Switch 2, and PC.
