Apple plans Series 12 and Ultra 4 watch updates without major redesign

Apple is preparing to refresh its Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 models later this year with improved performance but no significant design changes.

According to a Bloomberg report, the company is in late-stage testing for the new versions. The updates will include better chips for speed and enhancements to health and fitness tracking features.

The Apple Watch SE will not receive a refresh this year after the SE 3 launched last year. Mark Gurman noted that the last major processor update occurred in 2023 with the S9 chip.

A bigger redesign for the Apple Watch is expected in one or two years. Apple continues development of a blood sugar detection feature that remains years from completion.
