Armin Strom unveils Minute Repeater Resonance 12:59 First Edition

Armin Strom has launched the Minute Repeater Resonance 12:59 First Edition at Watches and Wonders 2026. The Biel-based watchmaker combines its patented Mirrored Force Resonance system with a new Westminster chiming mechanism in a more compact 42mm titanium case. Limited to 25 pieces, the watch is priced at CHF 390,000.

The new watch builds on Armin Strom's resonance technology, first introduced in 2016, which links two independent balances via a resonance clutch spring to enhance accuracy and stability. A prior Minute Repeater Resonance model featured a larger 47.7mm case with two hammers and gongs. This edition upgrades to four hammers and four gongs for a full Westminster sequence, controlled by a column-wheel system, and includes a flying governor visible on the dial side. The ARR25 manual-winding caliber comprises 506 components, 74 jewels, and measures 34.4 by 6.53mm. It operates at 3.5 Hz with a 40-hour power reserve and powers two separate regulating systems. A distinctive 12:59 Anytime mode allows the wearer to trigger the mechanism's longest sequence—12 hours, three quarters, and 14 minutes—via a slider at 9 o'clock. A small indicator shows the active mode in white or red, alongside standard time-striking. The 42mm titanium case is 11.7mm thick with 48mm lug-to-lug distance and 5atm water resistance, paired with a gray alligator strap and titanium buckle. Finishing includes mirror-polished hammers, gongs, and resonance spring, with Geneva stripes and hand-engraving on the movement. Sapphire crystals with antireflective coating front and back reveal the openworked anthracite dial.
