The Strategic Committee for Audit and Fiscal Review ordered investigations in four ministries after identifying irregularities in transfers to foundations during 2022-2026.
In its fourth session this Wednesday, the committee resolved to investigate the ministries of Sports, Energy, Agriculture and Health. The reviews cover transfers, accountability, contracts and compliance with objectives in entities such as the National Sports Institute and the Energy Sustainability Agency.
The analysis detected more than 5.4 trillion pesos transferred to foundations that should have rendered accounts, of which more than $1.4 trillion lack accredited accountability. In addition, 79 of 177 foundations created in the period have no record of accountability.
Opposition deputies called for the background to be sent to the Prosecutor's Office for a judicial investigation. Deputy Tatiana Urrutia stated that “everything that needs to be investigated should be investigated,” but warned that the government uses the findings as a “smoke screen” to divert attention from current economic problems.
PPD leader Raúl Soto emphasized the need for transparency “whoever falls,” without generating political controversies based on generalities.
