A supporter of Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has defended the administration's emphasis on sustainable economic measures rather than short-term relief.
Tagher Tagher Wan U Tiv, known as Baba Atsar Gundu, issued a statement on Friday highlighting investments in agriculture, infrastructure and skills programmes.
The governor's approach includes supplying tractors and farm tools to producers along with training for young people and women. Road projects are also under way to connect rural areas to markets.
Tagher contrasted this strategy with the distribution of temporary aid by some politicians based in Abuja. He said lasting self-reliance would reduce poverty more effectively than repeated relief efforts.
Residents were urged to back policies that build enduring opportunities in the state.
