Berenberg releases delayed 2025 annual financial statements

Private bank Berenberg has submitted its 2025 annual financial statements after a long delay. For the first time, accusations against former executives have been made public.

The Frankfurt-based bank published the statements on 21 July 2026. They address disputed accounting practices as well as loans granted to members of the former management board.

The Federal Financial Supervisory Authority BaFin had replaced the entire management team in mid-June. Two special representatives took over leadership.

The move followed a special investigation ordered by the supervisory board. It was initiated after auditors and the board failed to agree on several issues.
