DAGMA seeks origin of offensive odors in Cali

Residents in southern and eastern Cali have reported nighttime bad odors for several days. The DAGMA activated a virtual form to identify the source.

The Departamento Administrativo de Gestión del Medio Ambiente stated that the phenomenon corresponds to offensive odors. The agency launched a strategy to locate the origin with support from citizen reports.

The Air Quality Management group designed a digital form. Citizens can record the location, exact time and type of odor perceived. Name and contact details are optional to protect privacy.

Previous nighttime inspections failed to pinpoint the origin due to the intermittent and dispersed nature of the odors. Collected data will allow construction of a heat map and cross-referencing with meteorological variables such as wind direction and speed.

Once the source is identified, the DAGMA will coordinate actions with Cali Mayor's Office agencies under current national regulations.
