Dominik Szoboszlai signs five-year extension at Liverpool

Dominik Szoboszlai has signed a five-year contract extension with Liverpool, committing to the club until 2031. The Hungarian captain joined from Leipzig for £60 million in 2023 and recorded 13 goals and 12 assists last season.

Szoboszlai said he remains focused on winning major trophies. “There’s always more to come. I’m never happy,” he said. “I want to win everything that is possible in this country, also let’s say the Champions League.”

The 25-year-old had two years left on his previous deal. Negotiations with sporting director Richard Hughes concluded this week. Liverpool view the midfielder as a growing leader in the squad.

Szoboszlai returned to Merseyside on Tuesday for pre-season. He is expected to travel with the squad for next week’s tour of the United States. He is also considered a candidate to become vice-captain following Andy Robertson’s departure.
