The Anaheim Ducks secured a 5-2 victory over the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena on Tuesday, snapping a two-game skid. Ross Johnston led the way with a goal and two assists, while Nashville extended its losing streak to four games. Lukas Dostal made 26 saves for the win.
The Ducks improved to 3-2-1 with the road win, their second game on a five-game trip. Nashville fell to 2-3-2, now 0-3-1 in their last four, kicking off a five-game homestand.
Key Moments
In the first period, Ross Johnston gave Anaheim a 1-0 lead at 8:52, collecting a rebound from Radko Gudas' point shot and deflecting it off Brady Skjei's stick past Juuse Saros. Tyson Jost tied it 1-1 at 14:29 with a redirection of Spencer Stastney's pass.
The second period saw Leo Carlsson restore the Ducks' lead 2-1 at 4:23 on a rebound from Jacob Trouba's slap shot. Filip Forsberg evened it at 2-2 just 2:16 later, deflecting Josi's shot. Cutter Gauthier then put Anaheim ahead 3-2 at 15:07 with a wrist shot on a 2-on-1 rush. Beckett Sennecke extended the lead to 4-2 at 16:59, one-timing Mason McTavish's cross-ice pass.
Troy Terry sealed the 5-2 final in the third at 11:40, tipping Ryan Poehling's backdoor feed after Johnston forced a turnover.
Standout Performances
Johnston's three points highlighted his strong response after being scratched the previous game. "Any time you get points, three points, I don’t know if we should search for that every night," Johnston said. Gauthier added a goal and assist, while Trouba had two assists. Dostal stopped 26 shots.
For Nashville, Jost and Forsberg scored, but the team struggled with mistakes. "It wasn’t good," captain Roman Josi said. "We kind of gave them all their goals... losing too many battles." Coach Andrew Brunette noted sloppy play and a lack of urgency. Saros made 28 saves.
Ducks coach Joel Quenneville praised the third goal's impact and the team's response to holding a lead. Notes include forward Jonathan Marchessault missing a second game with a lower-body injury. Terry reached his 290th NHL point, passing Bobby Ryan for ninth on Anaheim's all-time list.
