EA delays Battlefield 6 season 2 to February 17

Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios have postponed the second season of Battlefield 6 to February 17, citing community feedback. To compensate, they are extending season 1 with bonus content arriving on January 20. The delay allows more time to polish the upcoming update.

Battlefield 6, which launched in October and sold over seven million copies in its first three days, has faced mixed reception from players. Recent Steam reviews highlight concerns about the battle pass, with one review garnering over 450 helpful votes stating, "The Battle Pass is extremely predatory and very FOMO, while the season itself doesn't give a lot to offer." The reviewer added that the game includes "so much FOMO stuff that it becomes more stressful than fun."

In response to this feedback, EA announced on January 13 that season 2, originally set for January 20, will now launch on February 17—a delay of nearly a month. "During our ongoing development, we've continued to review community feedback and, in order to keep our promise, determined that our best path forward is to extend Season 1 and give ourselves extra time to further polish and refine Season 2," the company wrote in a blog post.

The extension of season 1 will run until the start of season 2. An update on January 20 introduces the Frostfire Bonus Path, offering players the chance to unlock new free and premium customization rewards. These include a Weapon Package, a Soldier Skin, and XP Boosts by advancing through the tiers.

Battlefield Studios emphasized that this move prioritizes quality based on player input, aiming to improve the overall experience amid the game's strong initial sales but growing criticisms.
