Egyptian and Turkish foreign ministers urged joint efforts to restore US-Iran negotiations and avoid regional military escalation during a Saturday phone call.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan agreed during their Saturday phone call on the need to lower escalation and contain regional tensions.
The ministers reviewed coordination in the four-way regional mechanism involving Egypt, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, stressing dialogue and respect for state sovereignty and territorial integrity.
They addressed the Palestinian issue, rejecting any displacement of Palestinians and calling for an immediate halt to escalation in Gaza and the West Bank along with full humanitarian aid access.
The officials praised accelerating bilateral ties and committed to following up on outcomes from the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting held in Cairo in February 2026.
