The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) has intensified efforts to promote its Electronic Investment Licensing Platform, calling it a cornerstone of Egypt's push to streamline licensing and boost the investment climate. The platform provides 460 services from 41 government entities through a single digital interface, saving time and enhancing transparency.
In an official statement, GAFI described the platform as a qualitative leap in the licensing system, acting as the first unified electronic window that offers licenses, approvals, and permits needed for economic activities in Egypt. Developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and in partnership with licensing authorities, it forms part of wider government initiatives to foster a more efficient, transparent, and investor-friendly business environment for both local and foreign investors.
The platform delivers a fully integrated digital experience, from investor registration and selection of the relevant activity and license, to submission of required documents, electronic fee payments, real-time application tracking, and receipt of the final license—all without repeated visits to multiple authorities. GAFI noted that it can expedite license issuance to no more than 20 working days, assuming complete documentation.
The platform's launch aligns with the goals of Egypt Vision 2030, underscoring the state's dedication to enhancing the investment climate and government service efficiency. GAFI encouraged investors and entrepreneurs to utilize its electronic services, positioning it as a key enabler for launching new projects and expanding investments across sectors. It also confirmed ongoing technical support and inquiry responses via official channels and a dedicated hotline, while committing to further digital platform development in line with global best practices and ease-of-doing-business standards.
