Fabian Billing to become sole European on McKinsey Shareholders Council

Fabian Billing, a McKinsey senior partner, will join the consulting firm's new 12-member Shareholders Council on July 1 as its only European member.

The 52-year-old from Düsseldorf has made a name for himself as a transformation expert. In an interview with Handelsblatt, Billing said: “Our work has fundamentally changed.” Projects are now compensated based on measurable goals rather than primarily time and headcount.

McKinsey’s reorientation follows international scandals and weak growth. Billing described consulting as “an investment that must pay off.” He views the German economy with concern, stating: “We are not in a situation we would have wished for.”

The Shareholders Council is based in New York.
