A modder has created an unofficial native PC version of the 2008 Xbox 360 game Gears of War 2. The port, named Gears of War 2: Hollow, appeared online on July 16.
YouTuber Helios developed the port as a one-person project. It draws from a previously leaked unfinished official PC build combined with assets from the Xbox 360 release.
The version supports 4K resolution, 120 frames per second, mouse and keyboard controls, and the full campaign along with co-op, horde, and multiplayer modes. Helios noted that online features received limited testing.
Players have reported texture problems, rendering glitches, performance issues, and broken checkpoints. Some files were initially shared via a now-unavailable Discord server, and their legal status remains unclear.
