Samsung TV owners will soon access Fender's guitar lessons directly on their screens. The Fender Play app, making its TV debut, offers video-based instruction for various instruments. This integration arrives in the first half of the year, following its unveiling at CES.
Fender and Samsung are bringing interactive music education to the living room with the launch of the Fender Play app on Samsung televisions. Set to arrive in the first half of 2026, this marks the app's first native appearance on TVs, allowing users to learn guitar without needing additional devices.
Unveiled at CES, the app provides video lessons for electric and acoustic guitars, bass, and ukulele, catering to beginners and advanced players alike. Courses are structured around popular songs, ranging from The Beatles' "Blackbird" to Olivia Rodrigo's "Drivers License." For more experienced users, Jam Mode enables playing along with genre-specific playlists, turning practice sessions into immersive experiences.
Previously available on smartphones and tablets through the App Store and Google Play since its 2017 debut, Fender Play features virtual instructors for all skill levels. The TV version leverages the largest screen in most homes for clearer visibility of chord diagrams and techniques, surpassing the experience of casting from a phone to devices like Apple TV or Chromecast.
Access requires a subscription at $20 per month or $150 annually, with a seven-day free trial. Notably, the app will initially support only Samsung TVs from 2025 models onward, with no immediate plans announced for older devices.
This partnership aims to inspire more people to pick up instruments from the couch, blending entertainment and education seamlessly.
