GameStop hikes prices on Pokémon Trading Card Game products

GameStop stores have increased prices on Pokémon Trading Card Game packs and boxes well above the manufacturer's suggested retail price amid ongoing supply shortages. A staff member shared concerns about further upcoming increases. The latest set, Perfect Order, launches on March 29.

GameStop, the retail chain known for video games and collectibles, has been selling Pokémon Trading Card Game products at prices significantly higher than the MSRP. A single pack, with an MSRP of $4.49, has been listed at $7 for sleeved versions by November 2025, compared to a typical $5. Booster boxes of 36 packs, suggested at $143.64, sold for $239.99 during that period, according to Polygon reporting. Finding stock has been difficult since November 2024 due to high demand and scalping activity surrounding the Pokémon TCG market, which has persisted for over a year and included incidents like armed robberies over cards. GameStop receives products at wholesale prices from The Pokémon Company International and has adjusted retail prices upward, including adding up to $10 extra to collection boxes earlier last year. A GameStop employee posted on Reddit about new price change printouts, writing, “Wait til you see the price changes printout. What are we doing?” With the Perfect Order set releasing March 29, rumors suggest Elite Trainer Boxes, normally $50 to $60, could approach $100.
