Google enables Gmail address changes in Brazil

Google has started a gradual rollout of a tool that lets users in Brazil change their primary Gmail address without creating a new account or losing message history.

The option is already available in Brazil. The old address automatically becomes an alternate email linked to the same account, so users keep receiving messages in the same inbox.

Previously users had to create a fresh account and manually transfer data from services such as Google Drive and Photos. The new process keeps everything unified.

The feature carries limits: new addresses can be created only once every 12 months, with a lifetime cap of three changes per account. Corporate or school accounts require administrator approval.

Google recommends backing up data before proceeding. The rollout is gradual and may not reach all profiles right away.
