Harari regional council holds regular session

The Harari Regional Council's sixth round, fifth year, ninth regular session is underway in Addis Ababa under the chairmanship of the region's chief administrator. The chief presented a half-year budget performance report highlighting efforts to ensure rule of law and sustainable peace. In Addis Ababa on February 14, 2026 (Fana BC), the Harari Regional Council's regular session of its sixth round, fifth year, and ninth meeting is proceeding under the leadership of the region's chief administrator. The chief administrator submitted a half-year budget performance report to the council, noting achievements in upholding the supremacy of law, maintaining sustainable peace, and ensuring citizen participation in development activities.

Special attention was given to addressing the public's basic development and good governance concerns, allowing projects to be implemented within their allocated budgets and timelines with quality maintained. In Harar town, corridor developments and various infrastructure initiatives have contributed to an increase in tourism. During the half-year period, over 95,000 domestic tourists and 7,000 foreign visitors explored the region.

The region completed more than 54 kilometers of road base construction in the half-year. The Harer Mesob one-stop digital service center has been operationalized, enabling prompt responses to recurring citizen inquiries on good governance issues. The council is discussing the chief administrator's report while addressing various agenda items during the session.
