Hero XPulse 421 adventure bike rumored for EICMA

Spy shots have surfaced of a new middleweight Hero XPulse 421 undergoing testing in India. The model is expected to debut at EICMA this fall if rumors hold true.

Photographs of the bike in dazzle camouflage appeared in Indian media this summer. They show the machine traveling through mountain passes in what appears to be final testing stages.

Current XPulse models include the 200 4V with a 198cc engine producing about 19 horsepower and the XPulse 210 with a 210cc engine making about 24 horsepower. The new version is expected to use a 420cc liquid-cooled DOHC single-cylinder engine suited for adventure use.

Hero has operations in Germany, the UK, Italy, Spain, and France as it seeks to expand in Western markets. An earlier attempt with Buell Motorcycles about a decade ago did not succeed.
