OKOsix has opened a regional headquarters in Shenzhen as part of Hong Kong's integration with mainland China. The move comes as the firm maintains strong demand from Western markets. It plans further expansion in Guangdong province.
Materials scientist Eddie Yu founded OKOsix in Hong Kong in 2021. The company develops biodegradable materials and has secured sizeable orders from Canada, Europe and Australia.
It recently set up its China headquarters at the Hong Kong Science Park Shenzhen Branch in Futian District. Yu said the site will serve as the base for operations in the mainland market.
The company also intends to build a factory in Guangdong. This step aligns with Beijing's Greater Bay Area plan that connects Hong Kong, Macau and nine Guangdong cities.
OKOsix is among Hong Kong businesses expanding under the government's integration policy while retaining Western customer bases.
