Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos will name his final 2026 FIFA World Cup squad during a sendoff event in Pretoria on Wednesday evening.
The announcement comes after Broos released a preliminary squad of 32 players last Thursday. He must reduce the group by at least six before the June 1 deadline for final submissions. FIFA will publish the official rosters of 23 to 26 players on Tuesday.
Bafana Bafana gathered in Johannesburg on Monday. The team will play a farewell match against Nicaragua at Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Friday before departing for Mexico on Sunday. They open the tournament against the hosts on June 11 in Mexico City.
Broos has highlighted the need to address issues from the Africa Cup of Nations exit. He said complacency and poor discipline must be removed and stressed that new players will bring fresh energy. Four players from the preliminary list have already been excluded due to injury or other reasons while others including Ime Okon and Jayden Adams have been recalled.
