IDA reclaims industrial land and factory units from non-compliant investors

A joint committee led by the Industrial Development Authority continued its enforcement campaign for a second day, reclaiming industrial land plots and ready-built factory units from non-compliant investors across four zones in Cairo and Alexandria.

The committee, headed by IDA Vice Chairperson Hazem Anan, revoked land allocations in the New Cairo Industrial Zone and Katameya while continuing actions in Badr City. It also repossessed idle factory units at the Margham 2 Plastics Industrial Complex in Alexandria after inspections confirmed violations.

Nahed Youssef, Chairperson of the Industrial Development Authority, said the reclaimed plots had remained undeveloped despite multiple deadline extensions. She added that beneficiaries failed to start construction or production within approved schedules.

The campaign follows directives from Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem to recover idle assets. Youssef stressed that enforcement will continue uninterrupted to combat land speculation and allocate resources to serious investors.
