J. Cole's long-awaited seventh studio album, The Fall-Off, arrives on February 6, 2026, marking his first full-length project since 2021's The Off-Season. J. Cole, the Grammy-winning rapper from Fayetteville, North Carolina, has built anticipation for The Fall-Off over several years. The album's origins trace back to 2018's KOD, where the closing track "1985 (Intro to ‘The Fall Off’)" first teased the project. In 2023, Cole referenced it in a collaboration with Drake, stating, “I’m naming the album The Fall Off, it’s pretty ironic cause it ain’t no fall off for me.”
In a recent teaser video, Cole shared his deep investment: “For the past 10 years, this album has been hand crafted with one intention: a personal challenge to myself to create my best work. To do on my last what I was unable to do on my first... I owed it first and foremost to myself. And secondly, I owed it to hip hop.” He described the double-disc format as expanding from a single album two years ago, tying back to his 2007 mixtape The Come Up, and noted it was made "with intentions to be my last."
Disc 29 captures Cole's return to his hometown at age 29, a decade after moving to New York, facing crossroads with his woman, craft, and city. Its tracks include "29 Intro," "Two Six," "SAFETY," "Run a Train," "Poor Thang," "Legacy," "Bunce Road Blues," "WHO TF IZ U," "Drum n Bass," "The Let Out," "Bombs in the Ville / Hit the Gas," and bonus "Lonely at the Top."
Disc 39 reflects on a later homecoming at 39, older and closer to peace, with "39 Intro," "The Fall-Off is Inevitable," "The Villest," "Old Dog," "Life Sentence," "Only You," "Man Up Above," "I Love Her Again," "What If," "Quik Stop," "and the whole world is the Ville," and bonus "Ocean Way."
Ahead of the release, Cole dropped the EP/mixtape Birthday Blizzard '26 on January 27, hosted by DJ Clue, featuring freestyles like "Bronx Zoo Freestyle," where he addressed critics: "I used to be top seed/ Apology dropped me/ Way out of the top three/ No problem, I'm probably my best when they doubt me/ Watch me." This came after he stepped back from the Kendrick Lamar-Drake feud.
The album drops at 12:00 a.m. ET (9:00 p.m. PT) on February 6, available on Spotify, Apple Music, and other platforms, with physical copies on thefalloff.com. Fan reactions to early previews, including a music video for "Disc 2 Track 2" showing his life in reverse, have been enthusiastic: "Thank you, Jesus. It's been a drought out here," one said, while another noted, "I fear this is about to be his best work and we're not ready."
