Jurassic Park: Survival game returns to original island setting

The Jurassic Park franchise is stepping away from its recent World branding with an upcoming video game that revisits the events immediately after the 1993 film. Titled Jurassic Park: Survival, the first-person action-adventure follows a stranded scientist on Isla Nublar. It emphasizes survival and suspense over the spectacle of recent entries.

The Jurassic Park series has relied on the 'World' label since 2015, encompassing four films, animated series, the Evolution video game series, theme park attractions, and merchandise. Films like Jurassic World (2015), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), Jurassic World Dominion (2022), and the recent Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) shifted toward larger-scale threats, including dinosaur hybrids and global dangers. Despite Rebirth's box office success of $869.1 million worldwide, the new game Jurassic Park: Survival abandons this branding to return to the roots of Steven Spielberg's original 1993 movie.

Set the day after the park's meltdown, the game places players in the role of Dr. Maya Joshi, an InGen scientist played by Payal Mistry, who could not evacuate Isla Nublar. The synopsis describes it as: “Return to Isla Nublar the day after the events of the beloved 1993 Jurassic Park film in an original adventure 65 million years in the making.” Players will experience “thrilling first-person action” and “discover a never-before-told story” through encounters with dinosaurs exhibiting distinct behaviors, echoing John Hammond’s vision.

The game recreates familiar locations such as the Visitor Center and T. rex paddock, while adding new areas like a resort hotel and underground bunkers to form a fully realized Isla Nublar. Emphasis is on stealth, strategy, and risky combat against predators like Velociraptor, Dilophosaurus, and Tyrannosaurus Rex, recapturing the suspense of humans outmatched by nature.

Developed as a single-player experience, Jurassic Park: Survival will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, though no release date has been announced. This project offers fans a nostalgic reset, focusing on the terror and wonder that defined the franchise over three decades ago.
