Keyamo says no mechanical fault in Delta aircraft landing

Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo stated on Wednesday that a private aircraft which landed on a road in Delta State some weeks ago had no mechanical issues. The pilots mistook a construction road for the runway at Asaba Airport.

The aircraft, registered N989BC, had been cleared to land at Asaba Airport. The control tower lost sight of it after issuing clearance and later found it had landed on a nearby construction road in the Ogwashi-Uku area.

Keyamo explained on the TVC programme Politics Tonight that the pilots dropped passengers and took off for Lagos. He confirmed there was no mechanical failure, allowing the departure.

The matter has been referred to the Department of State Services as a security concern. Reports will go to President Bola Tinubu.
