Lando Norris secured victory in the Hungarian Grand Prix after starting from pole position. The McLaren driver finished 15 seconds ahead of Max Verstappen following Oscar Piastri's retirement.
Norris took pole by 0.012 seconds over Lewis Hamilton but lost the lead to teammate Piastri on the opening lap. He stayed close for the first 33 laps before emerging ahead after pit stops due to McLaren's strategy rules.
Piastri retired with a suspected gearbox failure, allowing Norris to pull away. The win marks Norris's first since the 2025 Brazilian Grand Prix and ends a 12-race winless streak.
Norris said he was better than Piastri in every sense, including pace and tyre degradation. He remains fifth in the drivers' championship, 91 points behind leader Kimi Antonelli.
