The Interior Minister stated on Saturday that there was no proven racist element in the fatal assault of the 17-year-old that occurred in Narbonne on June 19 and 20.
Laurent Nuñez denounced the exploitation of the case by the far right. He recalled that the public prosecutor had not established a racist motive in the crime.
The minister expressed growing concern about youth violence. He mentioned the need to better support children followed by child social services, the structure where Louis was housed.
Five suspects aged 16 to 20 have been charged with murder. The victim’s family rejected any political exploitation and did not take part in the weekend gatherings organized in Narbonne.
