The La República Forum on the impact of the cultural and creative industry brought together experts to analyze the sector's growth in the Colombian capital.

During the event held on July 30, 2026, panelists highlighted that at the end of 2025 Bogotá registered more than 25,000 creative companies generating 260,000 direct jobs and up to 600,000 including indirect ones. Camilo Fonseca of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce stated that “the creative economy is no longer an emerging sector. It is a structural part of Bogotá’s economy” and noted that in 2024 it contributed 4.8% of local GDP.

Industry representatives such as Andrea Valencia of Breakfast Live and Catalina Amador of Páramo Presenta emphasized the need for more mid-sized venues and a new law offering incentives to strengthen the sector. They also mentioned the impact of the 2026 Bogotá International Festival of Live Arts, which generated 31.361 billion pesos and attracted over 125,000 attendees.

Luis Quintero of Movistar Arena and other participants agreed that infrastructure, public-private partnerships and overcoming barriers such as transport and security are key to consolidating Bogotá as a cultural events destination in Latin America.
