Lucas Glover, a longtime critic of the PGA Tour, has been elected as the 2026 Player Advisory Council chairman by the Tour's voting membership. This marks the first time the 46-year-old, a six-time Tour winner and 2009 U.S. Open champion, has agreed to serve on the council after declining the role 10 previous times. Following his chairmanship, Glover will join the PGA Tour Policy Board for a four-year term from 2027 to 2030.
The PGA Tour announced on Wednesday that Lucas Glover has been selected as the Player Advisory Council (PAC) chairman for 2026. The PAC acts as a consulting body that reviews and recommends changes to the PGA Tour Policy Board on behalf of the membership. Glover and Adam Scott, the current chairman, were the candidates chosen by the Player Directors to run for the position.
Glover, known for his outspoken criticism of the Tour's direction amid challenges from LIV Golf, had previously described the PAC as 'a waste of time' and 'useless.' He expressed frustration over changes like reduced field sizes and fewer fully exempt cards, stating on his Sirius XM Radio Show, 'Hiding behind pace of play, I think challenges our intelligence. They think we’re stupid.' Glover also voiced opposition to welcoming back players from LIV, saying, 'I don’t want to play with them. I don’t think they should be back here.'
Despite his past reluctance, Glover accepted the role this time, citing maturity and encouragement from respected players. 'I can add value from inside the room instead of outside,' he told Golfweek. At this stage in his career, recovering from shoulder surgery, Glover noted, 'It’s not like I can stand on the range all day and hit balls. So I’ve got time, and there’s enough guys that want my voice in there to be heard, that I should probably do it.'
With Glover's election, Rickie Fowler will fill Scott's seat on the 2026 PAC, marking Fowler's third stint on the council. Scott will remain a Player Director through 2026. The full 2026 PAC includes players such as Sam Burns, Corey Conners, Harris English, Brian Harman, Max Homa, Alex Noren, Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, and Gary Woodland.
Glover, who attended his first PAC meeting late last month, emphasized learning before offering opinions. He praised new CEO Brian Rolapp's approach: 'I’m new to this game. I got to learn before I can make any kind of impact.' Glover continues to highlight pace of play issues, calling conditions at Pebble Beach 'terrible' and insisting, 'It’s not a number of players issue, it’s a players’ issue. We’re slow at golf.'
