President Lula arrived on Monday (15/6) in Évian-les-Bains, France, to attend the G7 summit as a guest. He will speak at sessions on international partnerships and sustainable growth.
Lula landed at the Hôtel Royal around 11:30 local time. Brazil is not a member of the bloc but is participating for the tenth time as a guest.
The Brazilian president plans to address the drop in development aid and US tariffs. He will also criticize unilateralism and advocate for reform in the governance of international organizations.
Lula will hold bilateral meetings with Emmanuel Macron and Sanae Takaichi. There is no scheduled formal meeting with Donald Trump, although the two may talk informally on the sidelines.
Lula's advisors resist a G7 text on critical minerals because of a reference to China. Only three of the eight documents drafted would be acceptable to Brazil.
