Man falls from apartment building killing pedestrian in Nagoya

A man fell or jumped from a 12-story apartment building in Nagoya early Sunday, hitting and killing a woman walking below. The woman died from hemorrhagic shock while the man remains unconscious in serious condition.

Police received a call at around 1 a.m. reporting that someone had fallen from a building and struck a woman in Naka Ward. Shinsei Taguchi, 29, struck Houra Inaba, 23, who was taken to hospital and died at around 5:30 a.m.

Taguchi fell or jumped from the building and remains unconscious. It is not yet known from which floor he fell.

The site is about 500 meters northeast of Yabacho Station on the municipal subway's Meijo Line.
