Manchester United defeat Paris St-Germain in Champions League

Manchester United secured a 2-1 victory over Paris St-Germain in the Women's Champions League league phase, maintaining their perfect record with three wins from three matches. The win came at Old Trafford in front of a record midweek crowd of 14,667. Goals from Melvine Malard and Fridolina Rolfo overturned Olga Carmona's equalizer for PSG.

Manchester United hosted Paris St-Germain at Old Trafford for matchday three of the Women's Champions League league phase. The home side took the lead with a tidy finish from Melvine Malard, but PSG leveled just before halftime through an expert strike by Olga Carmona. In the second half, a well-worked team move ended with Fridolina Rolfo sealing the 2-1 win for United.

Midfielder Jess Park spoke on BBC Three about the half-time adjustments from manager Marc Skinner after PSG's equalizer: "I think we had a lot of momentum in the first half as well. I think it was just controlling the game and actually being calm. We had a lot more space than we thought. Sometimes in the first half, he said it was like a hot potato, so we just needed to calm down a little bit."

Park also reflected on the victory: "It was crazy. A moment like this is like a lifetime opportunity. It was incredible. The support from the fans and the way we played today showed real character."

Defender Jayde Riviere impressed with key tackles, including a crucial block late in the game. Maya Le Tissier of PSG was booked for timewasting during six minutes of added time. Goalkeeper Mary Earps received warm applause from players and fans after the final whistle.

Former Liverpool defender Lindsay Johnson noted on BBC Three: "Those clinical moments just haven't come for PSG tonight. They've looked dangerous, they've had chances, but they've not been clinical enough in the final third."

Aston Villa's Lucy Staniforth added: "I think it was such an important game for Man Utd to pick up points and they've done just that in front of a great crowd at Old Trafford. They made PSG look ordinary. It's a well-deserved victory."

The result leaves Manchester United alongside Barcelona and Lyon on nine points at the halfway stage of the league phase. United's next challenge is the Manchester derby against Manchester City on Saturday.
