Marvel Studios debuted the first full-length trailer for Avengers: Doomsday at CinemaCon, showcasing Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom and Chris Evans returning as Steve Rogers. The film, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, is set for release on December 18, 2026. Marvel also announced a September theatrical re-release of Avengers: Endgame with never-before-seen footage.
Disney unveiled the trailer during its CinemaCon presentation to theater owners. It opens with Downey Jr.'s green-hooded, metal-faced Doctor Doom preparing to invade the multiverse, followed by Patrick Stewart’s Professor Xavier gazing at a bright flash outside the X-Mansion. A voiceover warns, “Something’s coming, something we may not be able to deter.” Xavier adds, “Before this day is done, we will be faced with an unthinkable decision.” Chris Hemsworth’s Thor declares, “They died facing enemies and threats. Everything they sacrificed will be for nothing, if we don't stand together,” later lamenting, “We’re going to need a miracle.” The Russo brothers, who directed the film and attended alongside Downey and Evans, described Victor von Doom as “one of the most complex villains. He's always three moves ahead... which makes him virtually unbeatable.”
The trailer highlights intense action, including Gambit (Channing Tatum) and Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) battling, Mystique transforming into Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) for a showdown, and Thor clashing with Doom, who catches Mjolnir with his bare hand. Evans’ Steve Rogers then appears, saying “Hey pal” to a stunned Thor, before wielding the hammer. The assembling heroes include Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Tenoch Huerta as Namor, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, James Marsden as Cyclops, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, and Dave Bautista as Drax, alongside elements from the Thunderbolts, Black Panther cast, and Fantastic Four.
Avengers: Doomsday marks the first major MCU team-up since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Marvel confirmed a September re-release of Endgame, adding new footage to its runtime. Both films will screen in Infinity Vision, a new premium large format with the biggest screens, laser projection, and immersive audio. Andrew Cripps, head of theatrical distribution for Disney, said, “Disney’s standards for production quality are second to none... Infinity Vision certification extends that commitment to the theaters themselves.”
