Menowin Fröhlich wins Deutschland sucht den Superstar

Menowin Fröhlich has won the casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar on his third attempt. The 38-year-old singer from Bavaria prevailed against four other candidates in the final on Saturday evening.

Fröhlich received the most viewer votes in the RTL live show from Cologne. With tears in his eyes he knelt on the floor after the announcement and hugged jury boss Dieter Bohlen.

In the past the singer had already participated in 2005 and 2010 but exited early or finished second both times. Many viewers criticized his renewed participation due to earlier scandals and court judgments.

With the win Fröhlich receives a record contract and 100,000 euros. His winning song is titled Mercy On Me. The next season starts next year with Dieter Bohlen, Isi Glück and Bushido on the jury.
