Metallica announced a super deluxe reissue of ReLoad, their seventh studio album and follow-up to 1996's Load. The set, out June 26 via Blackened Recordings, contains 15 CDs with the remastered original album, unreleased demos, rough mixes, B-sides, riffs, and live recordings from venues including London’s Ministry of Sound, Reading, Brisbane, and East Rutherford, New Jersey. Four DVDs feature TV appearances like MTV’s Reload, Rehearse, Request, plus concert footage from Philadelphia, Asia, and California, and behind-the-scenes clips from Seoul. A 128-page hardcover book with unseen photos and stories, posters, guitar picks, Rorschach Test cards, lyric sheets, tour passes, and a Pushead print round out the package. Remastering was handled by Reuben Cohen at Lurssen Mastering under Greg Fidelman’s oversight; the original album achieved quadruple platinum status with hits like 'Fuel,' 'The Unforgiven II,' and 'The Memory Remains,' a duet with Marianne Faithfull. Smaller formats include double-LP vinyl, three-CD expanded edition, CD, cassette, and digital. Preorder buyers receive four versions of 'The Memory Remains': remastered original, instrumental mix, 'Take 18 Floor Take,' and a Brisbane concert recording. The band launched #GetTheReLoadOut, inviting covers and non-traditional interpretations like TikTok dances or paintings, with winners receiving signed box sets. Metallica, fresh off their 2023 album '72 Seasons,' have Sphere residency dates in Las Vegas this fall extending into March 2027, plus UK, European, and Connecticut shows.
