Morena leadership condemned former Pemex director Víctor Rodríguez for aggressions against his wife and backed the victim's complaint.
Ariadna Montiel, Morena national leader, rejected all forms of violence against women during a press conference. She said the party welcomes María Felicia Jiménez's decision to file a complaint and that no one should remain unpunished for holding public office.
Montiel noted the case sends a clear message that no privileges exist for former officials. She said the party does not share Rodríguez's statement and called for authorities to act according to the law.
President Claudia Sheinbaum stated one day earlier that the government will provide full assistance to the victim and that any complaint of violence against women must be investigated without exceptions.
