MSMEDA advances national heritage strategy, expands global marketing for artisans

Bassil Rahmy, CEO of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA), affirmed the agency's comprehensive support for project owners across all sectors, particularly in heritage and handicraft industries. He emphasized implementing the National Strategy for Heritage Projects, launched by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, who also chairs the agency's board.

Rahmy's remarks came as MSMEDA clients participated in the International Salon for Traditional Industries in Algeria. He explained that the agency's presence at the salon reflects ongoing cooperation with Arab countries—especially Algeria—to maximize the benefits of strong economic and commercial ties. Algeria, he noted, represents a promising market for Egyptian exports. This partnership was particularly evident in Algeria's prominent participation in the seventh edition of the “Turathna” (Our Heritage) exhibition held in Cairo last October, as well as in several previous editions.

Rahmy added that collaboration between Egypt and Algeria in handicraft-focused exhibitions aims to encourage small project owners to enhance their products to meet the standards of international markets. Such participation helps entrepreneurs better understand global market needs, access export and contracting opportunities, and broaden their commercial reach. He stressed that these exhibitions play a crucial role in promoting the signature handicraft products of various Egyptian governorates—products that continue to attract strong global demand. This, in turn, supports the growth of Egyptian exports and boosts trade volumes between the two countries. The events also foster the exchange of technical and marketing expertise among participating exhibitors.
