The Oaxaca State Electoral Institute and Citizen Participation (IEEPCO) concluded the recall vote computations, confirming that 58.82% of votes favored Governor Salomón Jara continuing in office. Participation reached 29.90% of the nominal list, with 935,500 ballots cast. Jara respected the results and pledged to improve public services.
The recall process in Oaxaca ended with the full computation of 2,815 records across 25 district councils, according to the IEEPCO. From a nominal list of 3,127,753 voters, 29.90% participated, amounting to 935,500 votes. The option 'Continue in the governorship' received 550,274 votes (58.82%), while 'Revoke the mandate due to loss of confidence' got 357,025 (38.16%).
There was one polling station not installed and two ballot packages not delivered, plus three pending records, but none changed the overall results. Government Secretary Jesús Romero López reported 491 minor incidents, such as delays in stations and electrical failures, resolved in 99.96% of cases. Isolated incidents occurred in municipalities like Santa María Zaniza and Oaxaca de Juárez, including voting suspensions and ballot thefts, but voting was ensured in priority areas like Santiago Xanica.
Following the results, Governor Salomón Jara Cruz stated: 'I will fully respect the results from the citizen consultation'. He acknowledged discontent in some municipalities and announced an evaluation of officials to address shortcomings. 'I will ask my cabinet members to adopt a self-critical stance', he said, aiming to strengthen governance in dissatisfied regions.
Jara, Oaxaca's first Morena governor since 2022, reaffirmed his commitment to social demands despite the moderate turnout.
