A head-on collision on federal road 96 on the island of Rügen left one man dead and five others seriously injured.
The crash occurred in the morning near Rambin. A 33-year-old woman driving a transporter left the road and collided with an oncoming car driven by a 61-year-old woman.
The passenger in the second vehicle died at the scene. Both drivers and three other occupants aged five to 32 were seriously injured and taken to hospitals.
The B96 remained closed for five hours. Criminal police are investigating negligent homicide. An expert commissioned by the prosecutor's office is reconstructing the exact sequence of the collision.
