An industrial unit at Unit B3–B4, Trade City, in Bell Green, is the focus of a new planning application to Lewisham Council. Submitted on December 22, 2025, the plans aim to repurpose the space from storage and distribution into padel courts with supporting ancillary facilities.
The development would involve installing new windows, doors, roller shutters, fences, railings, an external flue, and a shopfront. Internal reconfiguration and various associated works are also proposed, alongside an application for advertisement consent to add signage to the site.
Lewisham's Environmental Protection Team has reviewed the application and plans to provide separate comments on air quality and noise impacts. Due to the building's current use as storage, the team recommends a precautionary condition in any permission granted. This would address potential unforeseen contamination during construction.
If contamination is discovered, all work must stop immediately. The developer would then need to submit a comprehensive method statement to the Local Planning Authority for written approval, outlining how to manage the issue safely.
